AIIMS Patna (All India Institute of Medical Sciences)

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Patna is a central government medical institute and tertiary care hospital located at Phulwari Sharif on the south-western side of Patna. It was set up to bring advanced yet affordable healthcare to Bihar and eastern India, and began operations in 2012. The campus has separate OPD, IPD, Trauma & Emergency and AYUSH/PMR blocks, with more than 1,300 beds, a large number of modular operation theatres and a wide range of speciality and super-speciality departments. Patients from across Bihar and neighbouring states visit for consultations, surgery, cancer care, diagnostics and emergency treatment at subsidised government rates. New patients can register at the OPD counters or book in advance on the national Online Registration System (ORS), and the hospital is empanelled under Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY. Because daily footfall is very high, it is best to arrive early, carry a photo ID and previous medical records, and check the latest OPD schedule before visiting.
